Elias Korr – “The Nanite Shepherd”
Nanotech Operative and Independent Contractor. Titanic Fee Scale
Elias Korr was the star researcher at Xileh Dynamics; the megacorp that first weaponized self-replicating cubic nanites. While the public narrative claimed “controlled deployment for terraforming,” Korr knew the truth: they were building the ultimate tool of asymmetric warfare and industrial sabotage. When a rival corp triggered an uncontrolled outbreak during an attempted hostile takeover, Korr’s team was wiped out. He should have died with them. Instead he activated his personal neural override and imprinted himself as the swarm’s primary directive node. The nanites obeyed.
Korr walked out of the ruins carrying the prototype Control Staff and his first Hand-Hive Cube, the swarm now literally part of his nervous system. Rather than disappear or play hero, he did something far more dangerous: he went freelance. Now the richest individuals, megacorps, and shadowy consortiums pay obscene sums for his services. Want your competitor’s orbital factory quietly disassembled overnight without leaving a trace? Want an impenetrable nanite security veil around your private moon estate? Need a rival’s prototype stolen and their data archives reduced to grey dust? The Nanite Shepherd is the man you call...if your account can handle the invoice.
How he operates the Control Staff is his signature. The shepherd’s crook shape is half affectation (he finds the symbolism darkly amusing) and half engineering perfection as it creates the cleanest, most focused command field for directing billions of nano cubes at once. The Hand-Hive Cube he carries is a mobile deployment node. He can toss it like a grenade or plant it as a persistent command beacon. Clients pay extra for him to leave a “temporary flock” on site for ongoing protection or sabotage.
The flowing grey swarm that surrounds him is a personal reserve. Constantly sampling the environment, repairing his armour and ready to form blades, shields, or sensor clouds at a thought. The glowing interfaces on his suit and staff are the only visible sign of the staggering processing power running through his nervous system.
Korr refers to the nanites as “my flock” and often speaks about them with the fondness of a shepherd dealing with particularly clever sheep. Among the ultra wealthy he is both feared and courted. Everyone wants him on retainer, but no one trusts him. After all, if someone offered him more, he might just let the swarm loose on them! Rumours persist that he is quietly building something far larger than any single contract… but as long as the credits keep flowing, he remains the perfect (if terrifying) service provider.
